Five People Were Rescued From An Apartment Fire In Corning

The Corning City Fire Department reports that there was an apartment fire yesterday on Chestnut Street in Corning. It was called in, at about 11:45am Monday. Firefighters say that four kids and one adult were rescued from a second floor apartment and taken to the hospital. Two firefighters sustained minor injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The family is being helped by the Red Cross. Assisting the Corning City Fire Department were: Corning Police, The Corning Joint Fire District, the Corning City Public Works office and Codes office, the Painted Post Fire Department, the Steuben County Fire Coordinators Office and American Medical Response.
