Five Steuben County Lawmakers Want Allard To Get A Raise

October 26, 2026

Five Steuben County legislators are opposing a new county local law, regarding Steuben County’s county job salaries. Those five voted this morning, against the county position salaries legislation, because they wanted the sheriff’s salary to go up and the local law voted on today, does not provide the sheriff with a raise. The lawmakers are: Hornell Republicans Dan Warriner and Paul VanCaeseele, Thurston Republican Michael Volino, Urbana Republican Shannon Logsdon, and Erwin Democrat Deb Shannon. Those five county legislators maintain that Sheriff Jim Allard is underpaid compared with other sheriff’s department’s salaries.
