STEUBEN COUNTY, NY – There was a bad garage fire in the Steuben County Town of Fremont yesterday. The Fremont Volunteer Fire Department responded and called in fire departments from Arkport, North Hornell and Howard as well. Fremont Fire Chief Barry Dye tells WLEA News that as soon as they got there, they realized that the garage was going to be a total loss, and it would be most important to focus on preventing the fire from reaching the house. “We worked to save the house,” Fire Chief Dye said. “The garage was a total loss at that point. So we pushed the fire back away from the house, until mutual aid arrived, and along with that – more water resources. There was no damage from fire, water or smoke, to the house,” Dye tells WLEA News.
The fire chief also reports that there were no injuries.
