HORNELL-Geraldine “Gerry” N. Shultz, 92, formerly of East Avenue, passed away Monday (January 9, 2017) at Elderwood in Hornell.
Born in Hornell, August 7, 1924, the daughter of Lyman and Nina (Margeson) Lockwood, she had resided in Canaseraga for over 29 years, a period of time in Florida and then returned to the Canisteo area in 1988. Gerry was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Fawcett Post #1582 American Legion in Canaseraga, the Canisteo Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Canaseraga Fire Department where she served for over 20 years.
She was predeceased by her husband, LeRoy Shultz in 1981, her parents, one son, Daniel Beam, 3 brothers Arthur, Roland and Jack Lockwood and 2 sisters Ruth Booth and Barbara Hance.
She is survived by a son Elton (Nancy) Swain of Canaseraga, 1 granddaughter, April Crego, 1 grandson, Christopher John Swain, 2 great grandchildren Josh and Dylan Crego, 1 brother Raymond (Lucille) Lockwood of Canisteo as well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service celebrating Gerry’s life is being held on Thursday (January 12, 2016), at 4 PM at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St. Hornell, NY 14843, Rev. Donald Peek, officiating. A private burial will be held in the spring.
