On October 19, 2024, a Uruguay citizen living in the United States, was arrested when he visited Venezuela. Below is a statement from Democrat U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand regarding his release:
“I am relieved to hear that Fabian Buglione, a New Yorker who was wrongfully detained in Venezuela for nearly nine months, was released today along with ten other Americans. I fought hard for his release, and I’m grateful to see his safe return to New York.”
