Senator Kirsten Gillibrand says she wants to get her war powers reform resolution passed, so that congress controls when the U.S. military goes to war, not the White House. “Our founders intended for Congress to control our nation’s war powers—not the president. It is an important check that keeps the consequential decision of going to war in the hands of the people. My War Powers Reform Resolution will restore that constitutional authority,” Gillibrand said in a Twitter statement.
