Democratic Party Nominee For Steuben County And Family Court In Total
Non-Compliance With New York State Campaign Finance Law
The Democratic Party nominee for Steuben County and Family Court, Michaela Rossettie Azemi, has blatantly failed to comply in any way with New York State Campaign Finance Law in her campaign.
Ms. Rossettie Azemi has not only failed to file a 32 Day Pre-General campaign finance disclosure report – which was due October 4th- she has failed to register her campaign with the New York State Board of Elections at all.
“This is a shockingly serious violation” stated Steuben County Republican Chairman Joe Sempolinski. “How can someone claim to be qualified to be a county level judge when apparently they can’t even attempt to comply with the most basic of campaign finance laws? Campaign finance disclosures enable the public to see who is financing a campaign and what campaign money is being spent on. The Democratic Party nominee has failed to comply with the law and provide any of this information. Either she has no idea what she is doing or has something to hide. Either way she shouldn’t be a judge.”
Campaign finance disclosure reports are available for review by the public at the NYS Board of Elections website – publicreporting.elections.ny.gov. There is no campaign for Ms. Rossettie Azemi filed in that database. Ms. Rossettie Azemi has an active campaign Facebook account where campaign billboards, lawn signs, merchandise and travel are documented. She also solicits funds on that campaign Facebook page. She has a campaign website with a contribution portal.
“Clearly funds are being raised and expended on behalf of Ms. Rossettie Azemi’s candidacy without any documentation or attempt at compliance. I have filed, on behalf of the Steuben County Republican Committee, a formal complaint with the New York State Board of Elections seeking enforcement in this matter” Sempolinski added.
