GOP Rep. Langworthy Voted For Continuing Appropriations Bills

September 29, 2023

Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) released a statement following his Friday vote in support of H.R. 5525, the Continuing Appropriations and Border Security Enhancement Act. “Today, I voted for a short-term spending bill that advances conservative policies, curbs spending, and addresses the crisis at the border,” said Rep. Langworthy. “While it gained the support of most House Republican Conference members, 21 of my colleagues chose to oppose it because it wasn’t perfect. Blocking this short-term spending proposal only gave more leverage to Biden, Schumer, and McConnell, threatening our ability to institute real spending reforms that will get our nation’s fiscal house in order and lower inflation on hardworking Americans. As we approach the weekend, our legislative efforts remain focused on securing funding for the federal government, and I will work until the last minute to avert a shutdown.”

Langworthy released a statement following his Sat vote in support of H.R. 5860, the Continuing Appropriations Act, 2024 and Other Extensions Act.

“Today, I voted for a 45-day extension of federal funding to avert a shutdown, ensuring that critical services continue and our military families don’t miss a paycheck,” said Rep. Langworthy. “Despite the House Democrats’ antics delaying the vote, including pulling the fire alarm, we got this done for the American people. We must rein in Washington’s out-of-control spending, but shutting down the government is not the solution. During this extension, I am working with my colleagues to pass the remaining eight of twelve appropriations bills that will advance conservative policies, curb spending, and address the crisis at the border.”
