HORNELL, NY – From Hornell Deputy Mayor Jessica Cleveland:
“In September 2022, Lita Brown was appointed to fill the remainder of my term as Alderwoman for the 6th Ward in the City of Hornell. I’ve known Lita for several years through her work for Hornell Concern for Youth and personally through her family. I was excited for Lita to assume this role because I’ve seen her diligence, responsiveness, and community-minded approach firsthand. I believe Lita has done an exceptional job in her first year as alderwoman.
“This year’s election for alderman is important, and I proudly endorse Lita Brown as the 6th Ward alderman. She has been proactive in addressing the concerns of residents and has shown remarkable commitment to her role. She promptly facilitates a resolution to any resident concern to the best of her ability and has excellent attendance at committee and Common Council meetings. Lita is hard-working, and I believe, she will continue to be a strong, active voice for the 6th Ward on the Council.
“I am proud of Lita’s service for the 6th Ward and the City of Hornell and as the election approaches, I urge my fellow residents to join me in supporting Lita Brown for 6th Ward Alderwoman this November.
“Additionally, I want to take a moment to also endorse Jim Bassage for Alderman for the 8th Ward. I have looked up to Jim and his service during my time on the Council, as well as when he was my director at Catholic Charities. Jim has held several leadership positions on the Council, and exhibits a thoughtful approach to decisions and collaborates well with all council members. Jim is highly-engaged, proactive, and responsive. I highly value his dedication to the 8th Ward and Hornell Community.
“As Deputy Mayor, I know first-hand it is vital to have a committed and responsive Council members. The Hornell community is improved by collaborative support from dedicated individuals committed to public service. We are fortunate in our community to have people like Jim and Lita, who are deeply committed to keeping Hornell a great place to live, work, and raise a family. I hope that Lita and Jim can count on your support in this election as they hope to continue to represent you on the Hornell Common Council.”
