April 24, 2014

Governor Andrew Cuomo has ordered flags lowered today for Fort Drum soldier Specialist Kerry Danyluk, a Texas native, who died last week in Germany, after being wounded in Afghanistan.

“On behalf of all New Yorkers, I extend sincere condolences to the family and friends of Specialist Kerry Danyluk,” Governor Cuomo said. “We are saddened at the death of this young soldier, and we join with his fellow soldiers at Fort Drum in honoring his service to our nation and in mourning his loss.”

Specialist Kerry Danyluk, of Cuero, Texas, was wounded when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire in Pul-e-Alam, Logar Province. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment of the 10th Mountain Division’s 3rd Brigade Combat Team.
