Governor Vetoes O’Mara Indigent Legal Bill

ALBANY, NY – Governor Andrew Cuomo vetoed State Senator Tom O’Mara’s legislation to have the state pick up the costs for those who cannot afford to pay for an attorney. O’Mara had argued that the state was putting undue burden on the county taxpayers, by having the counties pay for legal services for the indigent. In the governor’s veto, Cuomo stated that putting the cost on the state, would make state taxpayers pick up over 800 million dollars per year. Click here to read full story from TWC.
