Gun Involved Incident Leads To Stand Off

In Allegany County there was no school yesterday at Wellsville High School. Wellsville Police report that a suspect was charged for allegedly firing gunshots inside of a home in the 4am hour Monday morning, in a house near the high school in Wellsville. The suspect surrendered at 7:40am Monday and was taken to a nearby hospital.

Wellsville Police report the following: at about 10 before 5am Monday morning, they showed up at the William Wojehowski residence on West State Street in Wellsville for a report about gun shots being fired inside the residence. Wellsville Police were joined by New York State Troopers in surrounding the house. Soon after the occupants of the house were evacuated. An Allegany County Sheriff”s Department drone was brought in to help law enforcement find out if the suspect – 37 year old William Wojehowski was still inside. It turned out that he was.

Officers used a PA system to communicate with Wojehowski. He surrendered at 7:40am. He was taken to Olean General Hospital for evaluation. Wellsville High School was closed down today as it was nearby the Wojehowski residence. Wellsville Police are thanking the Allegany County Sheriff’s Department, State Police, Alfred Village Police, SUNY Police and Allegany County 9-1-1.
