The Hammondsport Ambulance Department has submitted a request to the county and to the state, to dissolve the Hammondsport Ambulance Department. County officials will have the Steuben County supplemental emergency medical crews handle incoming emergency medical calls sometime in the near future. Also, Steuben County Public Safety Director Tim Marshall says Hammondsport residents are not taxed to pay for ambulance service, and that the Hammondsport Ambulance crews are a non-profit volunteer ambulance operation.
