Harold B. Drake, of Canisteo

CANISTEO: Harold B. Drake, 80, of Elm St. passed away Friday (May 25, 2018) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester following a very brief illness.

Harold was born January 7, 1938 in Jasper to Burdette and Viola “Bobbie” (Davis) Drake. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Lyle Drake and James Drake and a sister Joyce Paddock.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and had been employed at the Merchants Terminal Corp. in Baltimore, MD where he retired as a supervisor in inventory control. He was a member of the Canisteo American Legion and at one time was very active in the Boy Scouts of America. Harold love to read, especially history subjects.

Harold is survived by two daughters, Rhonda (Richard) Gutoski of Aricopa, AZ and Elizabeth (Craig) Cissel of Hampstead, MD, a son Michael (Megan) Drake of Palmyra, VA; 9 grandchildren, Nathan, Rebeckah and Shannon Gutoski, Tyler, Maxwell, Alison and Emily Drake, and Samantha and Austin Cissel and one great grandson Evan Gutoski.
Harold is also survived by two brothers, Charles (Carolyn) Drake of Las Vegas, NV, and Edsel (Marla) Drake of Salamanca, a sister, Marilyn (Paul) Harvey of Salamanca and a sister-in-law, Mary Drake of Canisteo; plus several nieces and nephews.

At Harold’s request there will be no calling hours or service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions in Harold’s name may be made to the American Heart Association.

Arrangements are with the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo.
