As we draw nearer to the November 8 election, the topic of crime and guns is ever-present in the news. Governor Kathy Hochul says, the Republicans are talking about crime but not doing anything about it, because the GOP is pro-gun and won’t work to take guns off the streets, as her administration has worked to do. “Arming everybody in the streets is not the solution,” Hochul was quoted as saying by WLOS.
However, Republicans, like Congressman Joe Sempolinski, see it another way. “Governor Hochul has repeatedly shown that she is not taking this major issue seriously,” Sempolinski said. “I will continue to fight against cashless bail and push the need to consider a criminal’s history when releasing them from jail.”
