July 10, 2017

HORNELL, NY – In new and unfinished business Hornell Mayor Shawn Hogan announced that progression on the 63 unit housing complex on the Airport Road is coming right along. “They have already received their building permit and completed an access road to get to the site,” said the Mayor, “And official groundbreaking should take place the first part of August.”

The 60 unit Fairlawn Court apartment project is still waiting on their building permit which according to Hogan should be issued in the very near future. That work is also scheduled to begin the first part of August.

The city’s new hiking biking trail at Shawmut Park has officially opened. “That trail has gotten rave reviews from everyone I have talked to,” added the Mayor, “I am personally a bike rider and have ridden the trail multiple times and thoroughly enjoy it.” Hogan said there are plans in the future to extend it all the way to Arkport.

The officially ribbon cutting ceremony for the bike trail is tentatively scheduled for late Thursday afternoon, and Hogan hopes to have everyone involved that made it happen there.
