Hornell Common Council Passes 2 Resolutions Monday Night

September 23rd, 2019

HORNELL, NY – The Hornell Common Council had a fairly light agenda Monday evening with only two resolutions before them.

The first resolution had to do with parking on Delaware Ave. Police Chief Ted Murray conducted a survey regarding parking issues on Delaware Avenue and has formed the opinion that the street is too narrow to allow parking on both sides of the street, and still have access to that neighborhood by emergency vehicles.

To remedy the situation, on-street parking will now be prohibited on the west side of Delaware Avenue from the north side of River Street to the south side of Prindle Avenue. This new parking ordinance will go into effect October 1st, 2019.

The second resolution was that Tony Aini to be re-appointed to a five-year term on the City of Hornell Board of Assessment Review, to run from October 1st, 2019 to September 30th, 2024. Taxpayers who feel their assessments are unequal, excessive, unlawful or that their property is misclassified, have a right to have their assessments reviewed by the Board of Assessment Review.
