Hornell Common Council Votes To Get Funding, To Improve Parks

July 20, 2021

HORNELL, NY – At last night’s Common Council meeting, the Council approved a pair of resolutions paving the way for the City to apply for funding to rehab and improve Shawmut Park and Veterans Memorial Park at James St.

Mayor John Buckley says that funding at Shawmut Park would be used to expand the skatepark, basically doubling the size.

Mayor Buckley also said that funding at James St Park would be used to upgrade the playgrounds, replace the basketball courts, and add a splash pad to the pool.

Buckley says this is part of his multi year plan to invest in and upgrade both City parks.
