HORNELL, NY – The Hornell Dodgers advanced to the NYCBL Western Division Finals with a 13-2 victory over the Rochester Ridgemen on Monday. The Dodgers will begin the best-of- three game series with the Mansfield Destroyers tomorrow.

After a wild pitch moved them both up 90 feet, Brendan O’Donell (Rider) beat out the throw on a RBI single to short. A throwing error on a pickoff attempt allowed McDonald to score, O’Donnell scored on a wild pitch, and Smith hit a two-run single to make it 8-1.

Alex Foppe (Webster) allowed just four hits and one run in his seven innings of work. He walked three and struck out ten.

The Ridgemen were able to get a RBI single by Maddox Henderson in the 8th but the Dodgers answered back with five more runs in the bottom of the inning. After a pair of hit by pitches, Avallone hit a three-run homer down the left field line. A fielding error after a double by AJ Gonzalez (St. Thomas Aquinas) added another run and Noah Fasso (Hudson Valley CC) capped the scoring with a RBI single up the middle.

Avallone finished 2 for 3 with 3 RBI while Gonzalez was 2 for 5 with a pair of doubles. The Dodgers drew 10 walks, were hit by three pitches and took advantage of five Ridgemen errors.
