Hornell IDA Hopes To Start Up “Center Of Excellence For High Speed Rail”

HORNELL, NY  – Hornell Industrial Development Agency Director Jim Griffin announced on Thursday, that the Hornell area will be pursuing funding for a Center of Excellence for High Speed Transit.

The purpose would be to attract additional companies, training for advanced manufacturing, and a whole series of projects that would make the area more appealing to high speed transit.



In other news, Jim Griffin said he met with Alstom officials recently and agreed to bring a resolution to the board to continue the rent reduction program while Alstom rebuilds it contract base. The IDA board unanimously agreed to grant Alstom another 6 months at a reduced rate of $175,000. Griffin also mentioned that the board will be considering redoing the entire lease for Alstom in the near future.
