Hornell Man Is Facing Meth Charges, Etc

HORENLL, NY – Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on April 25, 2022, deputies of the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office arrested Steven P. Carpenter, age 28, of Sherman Street, Hornell, New York. It is alleged that Mr. Carpenter possessed a quantity of suspected methamphetamine with the intent to sell. It is also alleged that during Mr. Carpenter’s authorized arrest he physically resisted arrest, damaged a window, ran from police and was subsequently taken into custody on LPGA Drive, Corning, New York. Mr. Carpenter was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree, a class D Felony, Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, a class E Felony, Resisting Arrest, and Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree. Mr. Carpenter was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and held in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 property bond.
