HORNELL, NY – Scott Street resident Arlene Dennis was chosen to be the first recipient of the Citizen Recognition Award. The award is given to a city resident for enhancing and improving their property to make their neighborhood more appealing.
Buckley said that Dennis was actually the inspiration for the award as a few years back while passing by he noticed a huge plot of assorted flowers planted and maintained by her on the corner of Scott and route 36. Dennis does not actually own the plot, but maintains the flower garden to the benefit of everyone around.
Buckley noted that there are no set dates when this award will be presented, as is will be given out when he feels a resident is deserving of it.
