From Hornell Police:
Hornell Police report the arrest of NICHOLAS O. VELEZ, age 32 OF 69 Main Street, Canaseraga, NY following a complaint in the Hornell Plaza of a shoplifting incident. Velez was stopped and taken into police custody for (2) incidents of shoplifting; one incident on this date and the other occurring in late May of 2020. During this arrest Velez was found to be in possession of (31) glassine bags that contained a mixture ofthe narcotic drugs heroin and fentanyl. Velez was charged with (2) counts of Petit Larceny and (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree. (B felony)
Velez was further charged relative to a narcotic sale investigation in May of 2020 for (2) counts each of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree and Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, all class B felonies. Also charged in that investigation is NATHAN R. OSMIN, age 32 of 325 Grand Street, Hornell, NY.
Both Velez and Osmin were held in Hornell City lockup pending arrangement in CAP court in Bath, NY. Further arrests are expected.
The Officers involved in these investigations were Sgt.Aini, Officer Michael Hoyt and Officer JR Emo.
