Hornell Police: Meth Sales Deal Stopped

Hornell Police report that a Hornell couple was arrested on Friday after a Methamphetamine transaction was thwarted by Hornell Police. According to Police Captain Mike Sexsmith, Lewis R. Pierce, age 41 of 361 Canisteo St. Hornell, was arrested at about 12:35pm in the parking lot of a local business on Canisteo Street by Hornell Police. “Acting on a tip, Hornell Police responded to the parking lot and took Pierce into custody after finding him in possession of a large quantity of Methamphetamine. Police then arrested Josephine E. Schoonover age 29, also of 361 Canisteo St., after a search of the residence yielded evidence of ongoing drug sales from that home,” said Police Captain Sexsmith.

Pierce was charged with 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree (B-Felony), Attempted Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree (C-Felony), and Criminal Nuisance in the 2nd Degree (B-Misdemeanor). Schoonover was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree (B-Felony) and Criminal Nuisance in the 2nd Degree (B- Misdemeanor)

Both Pierce and Schoonover were arraigned in Hornell City Court and remanded to the Steuben County Jail. The investigation was led by Sgt./Inv Tom Aini with assistance from Chief Ted Murray, Officer Jamie Harwood, Officer Mike Hoyt, Officer Curtis Stanford and Officer Seth Blanchard.
