HORNELL, NY – From Hornell Police: As many may have noticed, the beards have disappeared from the faces of our police officers. As of April 1st our annual Holiday Fundraiser beards have been shaved off. Many of our officers donated $50.00 to wear beards from November through March. The officer’s donations were then matched by the Maple City Police Club. $1400.00 was was split between 10 families residing in our city and was hand delivered by our officers a week before Christmas. The money is meant to bring a brighter holiday to those that may have been struggling financially or suffered a traumatic loss during the year.
