HORNELL, NY – Hornell Police Chief Ted Murray tells WLEA News that there was a domestic dispute, that ended up, outdoors. Chief Murray tells us that it started this morning when two brothers were allegedly fighting in a parking lot, on Seneca Street. One of the siblings, Jeffrey Zinc, is alleged to have struck his brother with a two by four, in the arm. The brother was reportedly taken to St. James Hospital and treated with stiches.
Afterwards, Jeffrey Zinc was said to have run and hidden in a nearby wooded area.
Zinc was apprehended and charged with Assault in the Second Degree. He is, as of this posting, currently in Hornell City Lockup. He will later be taken to Steuben County Centralized Arraignment Court.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department and their K9 unit, assisted in locating Zinc.
Murray also says, because the alleged fighting happened close to Hornell High School, HHS was put under lockdown.
That was lifted after the arrest.
