Hornell Rezones Large Lot at the Request of IDA

August 30, 2016

Hornell, NY – The Hornell planning board met Tuesday afternoon and agreed to rezone a lot adjacent to Shawmut Park at the request of the Hornell IDA. The 6.5 acre lot, currently classified as light industrial, will be approved for multifamily apartment units, which will pave the way for expanding Hornell’s housing according to Hornell Mayor Shawn Hogan.

Hogan told the Planning Board there has been a big interest in obtaining the property, but things cannot move forward until an official vote from the Common Council to rezone has been taken.

First a Seeker will be held, then a Public Hearing September 19th, right before the monthly Common Council meeting.
