HORNELL, NY – There are three options for the ongoing Hornell School capital project:
Option #1 – (87 percent reimbursable)
a new bus garage
a new swimming pool
and other improvements
(School Superintendent Doug Wyant says that option #1 is not viable, because of the tax increase that would be required that the Hornell School District would have to impose on Hornell residents.)
Option #2 – (94 percent reimbursable)
new bus maintenance facility
swimming pool upgrade
Option #3 – 94 percent reimbursable
revamping the bus garage, other improvements too
(Superintendent Wyant noted that options 2 and 3 are more doable that option 1.)
The school board will vote on what to present to the public on October 22, and the public will vote on this on December 17.
In other news, the Hornell School Board will be voting on changes to the honor graduate system, on September 17th. Also, the school board approved the high school choir competition to go to Washington D.C., April 9th-April 12th, 2015.
