City of Hornell’s Water Treatment Project Receives
American Public Works Association Award

The City of Hornell and consulting agency, LaBella Associates, were recognized by the Western New York branch of the American Public Works Association (APWA) for upgrades completed at the City’s Water Treatment Plant. The City of Hornell and Labella received the Association’s 2022 Environment Award.

“This award promotes excellence in the management and administration of public works projects by recognizing the partnership between the managing agency and participating consultants and contractors,” stated Daniel Seider, Director of the Western New York branch of APWA.

“It is an honor to have been selected to receive the APWA 2022 Environment Award on behalf of the completed project at the Water Treatment Plant. The project was quite extensive. It all starts with organization and planning, followed by engineering and design, and finally, the actual construction. It is quite an undertaking from start to finish. It took about four years to bring this project to fruition. The City of Hornell, and all of the agencies that were involved in this endeavor, should be proud,” stated Operator Leonard Fucci.

“We are very pleased to be recognized by the Western New York branch of APWA for the work completed at the City of Hornell’s Water Treatment Plant. The $7.8 million project is a huge investment in our water; our most important resource. The partnership with Labella allowed us to execute this project effectively,” stated Mayor John Buckley.

The City of Hornell’s valuable partnership with LaBella continues on several upcoming projects, including many Downtown Revitalization Initiative projects, as well as vital, infrastructure projects, including multi-million dollar projects at the Water Pollution Control Plant.
