BYRNES TO SERVE ON “IMPEACHMENT COMMITTEE” INVESTIGATING CUOMO
A Statement from Assemblywoman Marjorie Byrnes (R,C-Caledonia)
“The serious and deeply concerning issues regarding the governor and his administration’s role in the release of nursing home data and the multiple charges against him of sexual harassment have prompted me as a representative to call for Gov. Cuomo to resign, followed by his impeachment should he not do so. I now am being called to a new duty on behalf of our state. As a member of the Assembly Judiciary Committee, I have been asked to investigate the governor and his administration, with full subpoena power, and to recommend to my colleagues in the state Legislature as to whether or not the governor should be impeached based on our evidentiary findings.
“As a former judge, this is a task I take very seriously. At this time, I do not have more information on the timeline for the committee’s process in moving forward but I am ready to begin this all-important and historical work immediately.”
