Household Hazard Waste Collection – August 22nd in Bath

STEUBEN COUNTY, NY – Officials with Steuben County government are announcing that the next Household Hazard Waste collection in Steuben County is set for August 22, from 8 a.m.-12pm, at the county Landfill on Turnpike Road in Bath.
 
Items accepted during the hazardous waste collection are:
 
Acids and bases, aerosols, antifreeze, appliances, cleaners, driveway sealer, electronics, fluorescent bulbs, gasoline, herbicides, kerosene, latex paint, motor oil, oil-based paint, paint thinner, pesticides, photo chemicals, pool chemicals, propane tanks, solvents, thermometers, thermostats, tires, waste oil, wood polishes and wood stains.
 
Materials not accepted during the collection include:
 
* Asbestos * Bio-Waste * Explosives and ammunition * Lead-acid batteries * Narcotics * Prescription drugs * Sharps and syringes * Smoke detectors The landfill also will accept other materials pending approval by the collection vendor, Hazman. Collection is free but registration is mandatory.
