Is Target coming to Allegany County? A new Facebook page, posted Friday and purportedly authored by the national chain, says “(w) e have started the process to open a new location in Wellsville, NY! We are expecting to open in October 2021! ” at the former Kmart store in Riverwalk Plaza.
But, Melissa Niedermaier, property manager for the shopping center and LC Whitford which owns the site, tells Allegany Hope the Facebook page is “incorrect.”
Aryn Ridge of Target’s national communications department only tells us “(w) e are continually evaluating potential store locations to serve new guests, but I don’t have any new-store news to share at this time.”
Neither alleged that the page is a scam.
In a national story early last month, CNBC reported that Target will invest $ 4 billion annually over the next few years to speed along new stores, remodel others, and expand its ability to fill online orders.
The effort will include opening 30 to 40 new stores each year, according to the story.
