James F. Smith, of Greenwood

GREENWOOD: James F. Smith, 47, of Main St. Greenwood, passed away
unexpectedly of natural causes Friday (Sept. 29, 2017) in Nebraska while on
a windmill blade trucking run.

Jim was born October 30, 1969 in North Hornell to Benjamin and Elizabeth
(McGregor) Smith. On September 11, 2003, in Greenwood he married the former
Kathy Hurlburt who survives and resides in Greenwood.

Jim was a truck driver for Universal Specialized of Warren, Michigan at the
time of his death. He had also worked for Southern Tier Express of Greenwood
for 20 years. Jim was a very devoted husband and father who loved his
children dearly, supporting them in all of their activities. He was very
supportive of his daughter’s cheerleading through Storm Athletics of Olean
and he never missed a football game of his sons whether in Canisteo or
Hornell.

Jim’s other interest included horseback riding, watching NASCAR racing and
cheering for the Buffalo Bills. He also enjoyed spending time on the water
boating with family and friends.

In addition to his wife Kathy of Greenwood, Jim is survived by three sons,
Josh Howard of Belfast, Eric (Brittany) Smith of Hornell and Justice
Hurlburt of Greenwood, two daughters, Kaylee (Dakota) Pielow and Nikkilyn
Smith all of Greenwood and a grandson, Oliver Pielow. He is also survived by his father Benjamin (Mary) Smith and mother, Elizabeth Smith all of Greenwood, two sisters, Mary Smith (Scott) Gerbes of Greenwood and Jennifer Smith of Hornell, three brothers, Justin McNeil, Jonathan Smith and Benjamin Smith, Jr. all of Greenwood, an uncle and Godfather, Eugene Smith of Greenwood, an aunt, Sharon Aldridge of FL. and sister-in-law, Sheila (Chuck) Tucker of Weaverville, NC. as well as several
cousins.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 and 6-8 pm Thursday at the H.P.
Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo. A funeral
service will take place Friday at 11:00 am at the First United Methodist
Church in Greenwood. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Greenwood, NY.
