July 7, 2021

HORNELL, NY – Hornell Industrial Development Agency Director Jim Griffin is retiring from the Hornell IDA Executive Director’s position, and becoming a senior consultant with the IDA. Mike Nisbet is taking over for Griffin as the Hornell IDA Director, effective immediately. All of this was voted on, at a special IDA meeting on Tuesday.

From Mayor John Buckley: “My congratulations to Jim Griffin as he transitions into retirement. Jim’s work with the IDA has been helped the City immensely over the decades and is to be applauded. Having served on the Steuben County IDA, Mike Nisbet brings valuable economic development experience to the Hornell IDA and will be able to hit the ground running.”

From The New York State Economic Development Council: “Griffin has led the Hornell IDA and the chamber for more than 38 years. Under his direction, the IDA, which he helped form in 1974, has created more than 5,000 new jobs and retained more than 2,500. The IDA has constructed seven industrial and commercial parks, five of which are fully occupied, and more than four miles of new roads and streets and installed seven-plus miles of sewer and water lines. The organization also applied for and received more than $20 million in state and federal construction grants and loans, resulting in private investment of more than $300 million.”
