John J. Shipley, of Canisteo

CANISTEO: John J. Shipley, 65, of East Main St. passed away unexpectedly Friday (Nov. 27, 2015) at St. James Mercy Hospital after being stricken at home.

 

John was born June 6, 1950 in Vineland, N.J. the son of Charles and Alonda (Cassaboon) Shipley. On October 31, 1993, in Las Vegas, NV. he married the former Brenda McChesney who survives and resides in Canisteo.

 

John was a retired communications technician who was a partner in the Shipley-Logan Communications business in Florida. After retiring he and his wife moved to Canisteo in 2013 where they both enjoyed the small town pace and atmosphere.. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed his time on the golf course and when he couldn’t be, he enjoyed the challenges of computer golf.

 

In addition to his wife of 22 years, Brenda Shipley of Canisteo, he is survived by a son John J. (Tammy) Shipley, Jr. of Fort Pierce, FL. a daughter: Terri Lynn Shipley of Orlando, FL. John is also survived by his father: Charles (Barbara) Shipley and his mother Alonda Giguere all of Vero Beach, FL., Two brothers: Chuck (Sherry) Shipley of Vero Beach, FL. and Scott (Alex) Shipley of Fort Pierce, FL. one sister: Kim (John) Sheridan of Vero Beach, Fl. as well as 5 grandchildren, one great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no public calling hrs. or service. A private family gathering and visitation will be at the convenience of the family at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo.
