June H. Bretz, of Hornellsville

HORNELLSVILLE: June H. Bretz, 84, of County Route 29 passed away Tuesday (June 27, 2017) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester following a short illness.

June was born April 13, 1933 in Jamaica South Long Island to the late John H. and Susan May (Verrall) Duryea. On February 22, 1960, in Brightwaters, Long Island, she married John P. Bretz who survives and resides in Hornellsville.

June was a homemaker who loved coupon shopping and going to yard sales. She was always looking for bargains and deals and has now found her treasure of a lifetime—-eternal life with Jesus in heaven.

She enjoyed watching and feeding God’s birds, one of her favorites was the hummingbird. She loved the wildlife as long as they stayed out of her bird feeders; “Mr. Racoon and Mr. Bear”. June’s love of gardening was expressed in her care for her many plants.

She and her family enjoyed attending family camp at Chambers Wesleyan Camp and never missed a camp in 43 years.
June is deeply loved by Jesus, her family and friends. We invite you to join us as we “Celebrate her Home”.

In addition to her husband John, June is survived by one son, John P. (Pamela) Bretz, Jr. of Horseheads, three daughters, Faith (Bill) DeMarr of Hornellsville, Mary Lou (Charles) Elliot of Johnson City and Susan (John) Wojack of Nunda, 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild. June is also survived by three sisters, Rev. Juanita (Walter) Hilsenbeck of Massapequa, Laurel (Rev. John) Sluyter and Lea Duryea all of Olathe, Kansas.

She was predeceased by a sister Joy Vanderbilt.

At June’s request, there will be no public calling hours or service. A private family graveside service will take place at the convenience of the family in Woodlawn Cemetery in Canisteo.
