Langworthy: Jewish Students Are Not Safe At Columbia

May 2, 2024

This morning GOP Congressman Nick Langworthy issued a statement, saying that Jewish students are not safe on Columbia’s campus. Langworthy has also called for the Columbia University Board to remove President Shafik.

See full statement below:

Right now, chaos is unfolding on Columbia University’s campus. This goes far beyond free speech — we’re seeing vandalism and violence, with students breaking in and taking over buildings, vandalizing the school, and attacking Jewish students. I never thought I’d see a day where American students are supporting a known terrorist organization and yelling “Death to America,” in the very city that was the target of the largest terrorist attack on U.S. soil on September 11, 2001.

Jewish students are not safe on Columbia’s campus — they’re being blocked from their classes simply for being Jewish. This is something we haven’t seen since WWII in Germany. It’s absolutely disgusting, and it cannot be tolerated.

I’ve already called for the Columbia University Board to remove President Minouche Shafik because she failed to keep Jewish students safe and restore order on campus. These students shouldn’t go unpunished, either. I want to hear from you…

Sincerely,

Rep. Nicholas A. Langworthy

Member of Congress
