Langworthy, Schumer, Gililbrand – Their Statements About The Six Murdered Hostages

September 1, 2024

FROM SENATOR CHUCK SCHUMER: I’m heartbroken to learn that Hersh Goldberg-Polin, z”l, an American citizen, was murdered by Hamas. His death, and the murder of the five other hostages recovered, shows how brutal Hamas is and how urgent it remains to free all the hostages now. I have met with the families, including Hersh’s brave parents Rachel and Jon. They are inspiring and they are selfless. My heart aches for them, and for each and every family impacted by the horrors of Hamas. There is no time to waste in bringing the hostages home now.

FROM SENATOR KIRSTEN GILLIBRAND: “I’m devastated and horrified by the murder of six hostages, including Israeli-American Hersh Goldberg-Polin. My heart is with their families and loved ones today. Hersh was just 23 years old, described by his mother as a ‘happy-go-lucky, laid back, good humored, respectful and curious person’ with a bright future ahead of him. My heart breaks for his parents, Rachel and Jon, who worked tirelessly to bring Hersh and all the hostages home. Hamas leaders must be held accountable for their crimes. And we will keep working until we bring the remaining hostages home.”

FROM CONGRESSMAN NICK LANGWORTHY: “Today, we mourn the brutal murder of six hostages, including American citizen Hersh Goldberg-Polin, whose body was recovered by the IDF after being held hostage by Hamas terrorists for more than ten months. During my trip to Israel, I met Hersh’s parents, who have shown incredible strength in the face of these unimaginable horrors — my deepest condolences go out to them and the other families who’ve lost loved ones at the hands of these murderers. Hersh’s death is a stark reminder of the pure evil that Hamas represents. America will not tolerate the murder of our citizens, and we must stand firmly with Israel in its fight to eradicate these terrorists.”
