Langworthy’s Weekly Letter, June 2, 2025

June 2, 2025

FROM CONGRESSMAN NICK LANGWORTHY:

In Western New York and the Southern Tier, manufacturing built our economy, our towns, and our middle class. These jobs brought stability, dignity, and opportunity to working families—and they still do. But over the years, Washington’s failed policies—from reckless trade deals to an anti-growth tax code—hollowed out our communities and shipped our jobs overseas. We’ve paid the price, and it’s long past time for that to end.

That’s why I’ve made it one of my top priorities in Congress to fight for the industries and workers who built this region. And now, with President Trump back in the White House, we finally have a partner who understands that the American worker is the foundation of this country.

For too long, coastal elites and career politicians in Washington treated working people as an afterthought. They forgot who keeps America running. Not anymore. We are done with lip service. We are delivering real results for Western New York and the Southern Tier.

That’s why I’m proud to support H.R.1—the One Big Beautiful Bill. It makes the Trump Tax Cuts permanent, and it eliminates taxes on tipped wages and overtime pay. That means more money in your pocket—not Washington’s. It’s a clear message: if you work hard, you should be rewarded—not punished.

Whether you’re a nurse pulling a double shift, a warehouse worker grinding through the night, a truck driver logging 70 hours a week, or a single parent taking every shift you can get—you deserve to keep more of what you earn. This bill does exactly that.

No tax on overtime pay is a game changer. It helps workers take on extra hours without being penalized. It helps employers fill shifts. And it keeps our local economy moving. When families have more to spend, they invest it right back into our small businesses and communities.

This bill is a direct investment in Western New York and the Southern Tier—in our workers, in our future, and in the values that built this country. It’s about restoring fairness, rebuilding pride in American work, and making sure our communities get their due.

The Senate needs to pass this bill—now. The working families of Western New York and the Southern Tier have waited long enough. Let’s get this done and send a loud, clear message: we will always stand with the people who work hard, play by the rules, and build America with their own two hands.
