I’m proud to report that the House has passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2026—legislation that keeps America safe, strengthens our military, and delivers meaningful support for our servicemembers and their families. This year’s NDAA reflects President Trump’s “peace through strength” agenda and makes the strategic investments necessary to ensure our nation remains the most capable fighting force in the world. One of the most important components of this bill is the 3.8% pay raise for our servicemembers, ensuring that the men and women who defend our nation receive the compensation they deserve. The NDAA also expands bonuses and special pay to help retain our most talented warfighters and improve quality of life across the force. Supporting those who serve is not just good policy—it is our solemn obligation. This legislation also makes targeted investments in the tools, technologies, and systems our armed forces need to maintain American superiority. It strengthens our missile defense architecture, revitalizes the defense industrial base, expands domestic manufacturing, and accelerates the delivery of critical capabilities—such as fighter aircraft, submarines, autonomous systems, and next-generation missile defense. These priorities keep America ahead of adversaries like China, Russia, and Iran while enhancing our ability to protect the homeland. Equally important, the NDAA restores a clear focus on military readiness and lethality. It reforms the defense acquisition system to get cutting-edge technology into the hands of our warfighters faster. It ends divisive DEI programs and ensures that promotions, training, and command decisions are based solely on merit, performance, and mission excellence. Savings include:
Finally, it advances our efforts to secure our border, fully funding the deployment of National Guard and active-duty troops in support of Border Patrol operations and strengthening counter-drug initiatives. Simply put, we are saving money where we don’t need it, and investing in the future for a safer United States of America.
As your representative, one of the most important things I can do is fight to bring much needed resources back here to Western New York and the Southern Tier. I am very proud to see one of my earliest projects, in which I secured $450,000 in congressionally directed spending for Cyber Security Training, come to fruition. This past Monday, I joined St. Bonaventure University President Jeff Gingerich in officially cutting the ribbon for their cutting edge Cybersecurity Program. I am proud to have secured the funding necessary for this critical training end expertise for St. Bonaventure, which will strengthen workforce development in our region, and bolster America’s cyber readiness.
I also announced that I have secured $254,169 in federal funding for the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Allegany County, supporting agricultural innovation, economic growth, and essential community services. From 4-H to nutrition programming, this investment strengthens our region’s future and reflects the priorities I hear from you every day. It is an honor to fight for Western New York and to help deliver a stronger, safer future for our country. Sincerely, |
