Last Night’s Debate Between Sempolinski And Della Pia

August 19, 2022

Last night in Chautauqua County, the League of Women Voters, held a debate between Joe Sempolinski (R, Canisteo) and Max Della Pia (D, Tioga County).

The full debate can be heard, by clicking here.

Statement From Joe Sempolinski:
“The contrast in the upcoming Congressional special election could not have been clearer last night in the debate. My opponent admitted his support for increased taxes, increased spending and 87,000 IRS agents through his support for the falsely named ‘Inflation Reduction Act’. I would have opposed that bill. My opponent advocated for the radical position of getting rid of the filibuster. I think the Senate should keep their current rules. On Tuesday, the people of this district can have a homegrown Congressman who will fight for their values if I am elected or they can hand Nancy Pelosi another vote if my opponent is elected.

Statement From Max Della Pia:

“When we ask our children, ‘What do you want to be when you grow up?’ The better question is ‘What do you want to do when you grow up?’ To be a congressman and do nothing serves no one, benefits no one, and leaves the problems for someone else to clean up. I want to work with others to achieve consensus and change the trajectory of our Democracy.I have centered my life around service. That’s why I am running for Congress, to serve the people of NY-23 and to help change the trajectory of our democracy.”
