Last night in Steuben County, Hornell Republican Dan Warriner won twice. Warriner won his 5th Ward Hornell Common Council seat again, and Warriner won a Steuben County Legislative seat, representing Hornell at the county level. Warriner takes over the legislative seat occupied by longtime Hornell Republican Gary Swackhamer, who did not seek reelection.
Hornell Mayor John Buckley pulled in 833 votes over his write in opponent Frederic Voss. There were 94 write-in votes, thought we don’t know yet, how many were for Voss. It was a good night for the Hornell Republicans on the Common Council. They won every seat except in the 10th Ward, which has been held for decades by Democrat John Carbone.
Canisteo Town Supervisor Joe Harrington won reelection last night, getting 192 votes. Also in Canisteo, James Dennis won his seat also on the Canisteo Town Board, getting 230 votes.
In Hornellsville, town board members Dave Oakes and Trish Yanni were reelected last night.
in Fremont, Emily Murray wins the town supervisors race, 95 votes for Murray.
Susan Peck won the Fremont clerks race, Cindy Smith and Dean Keefer won the Fremont Town Board seats.
Tom Flansburg won the town highway superintendent’s job once again.
in Hartsville, David Gerhard won the supervisors race. He took over for his wife Kristi, who, sadly, died of cancer in September 2024. The winner of the Hartsville town clerk’s race was Ashley Gibson and the winners of the town board seats in Hartsville were Heidi Margeson and Leon Woodworth. Also, Ian Henderson won the Hartsville Highway Superintendent’s race once again.
Howard winnners: Supervisor Don Evia and the Howard Town Board winners were Ron Dyer and Andrew Burdin.
In last night’s Allegany County elections, Jesse Szalc was reelected as Alfred Town Supervisor, getting 264 votes. Kathleen Benzaquin and Kate Rogers won the Alfred Town Board races. Rogers got 332 votes and Benzaquin, 349 votes. Also in Alfred, Robert Halsey won the town highway superintendent’s race, 284 votes for Halsey. In Almond, Daniel Hegarty wins the town supervisor’s race, receiving 147 votes. The Almond Town Clerk’s race winner was Julie Phillips, who got 69 votes. Brian Snyder and Jo Anne Freeland won the Almond Town Council seats, Freeland got 157 votes and Snyder 156 votes. Over in Andover, Steven Martinelli was elected town supervisor, getting 321 votes. And Tom Davis won the Andover Village mayor’s contest, 228 votes for Davis. In Angelica, Girard Kelly won the Angelica town supervisor’s race, he got 136 votes.
