Leslie Danks Burke Picks Up Union Endorsement

May 27, 2020

From Leslie Danks Burke:

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 241 today endorsed Leslie Danks Burke for State Senate in the 58th District. IBEW is one of the largest labor unions in the country, representing workers from a wide variety of fields, including utilities, construction, telecommunications, manufacturing, and government. “I am honored to have the support of IBEW Local 241 and the hard-working members it represents,” said Danks Burke. “I’m running for State Senate because our district hasn’t had a seat at the table since my opponent took office. I have been on the picket lines with workers for years, fighting for fair wages and infrastructure investment for our rural communities, and every time I march those lines, I know I’m fighting for my home and my kids’ future. We shouldn’t settle for less. It’s time to bring good-paying jobs here; invest in education, rural broadband, infrastructure and energy; prioritize local jobs and kick corruption to the curb.”

“We are proud to support Leslie Danks Burke in her campaign, just as she has always stood with us in our fight to improve wages and worker protections,” said Todd Bruer, IBEW Local 241 Business Manager. “From walking the picket line with Verizon workers on strike to supporting pension protections for public workers, Leslie has proven that she will stand up to corporate interests and fight to secure wins for the working families of Upstate New York. We need leaders like her fighting for us in Albany more than ever.”
