December 14, 2022

HORNELL, NY – Wlea News has learned that longtime Hornell Common Council member, and longtime Hornell Inustrial Development Agency member, Joseph Foreman, has passed away unexpectedly in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Joe Foreman was on the Common Council for 25 years, and also an important member of the Hornell IDA for over 20 years. He was a college professor at Alfred State College for about three decades. “Joe was a friend, not only a friend but a colleague, he certainly will be missed,” said Shawn Hogan. “Joe had been a friend since high school days, he was a wonderful professor, a wonderful friend, a wonderful father and husband. His focus was always on Hornell, and the 5th Ward and it was an honor to call him my friend.”

Mayor John Buckley echoed Hogan’s statements. “Very sad news to hear this week, to hear that Joe passed away,” Buckley told our news dept. “In my early years, I had the honor and pleasure of serving with Joe Foreman, he was always community minded and always willing to help out, and lend a hand, and he was just a wealth of knowledge and experience. He will be sorely missed,” Buckley said.
