Lowe’s PILOT Money, and Hornell Plaza Update

HORNELL, N.Y.- The Hornell Industrial Agency, in their monthly meeting Thursday evening, announced that Hornell received a payment in lieu of taxes fom Lowes in the amount of $574,326.00 which will be disributed between the Village of North Hornell, the Town of Hornellsville, Steuben County, the Hornell School district, and Hornell.

In other news, IDA Director Jim Griffin announced that the developers that own the Wegmans/Wal-Mart plaza are actively searching for a retailer to build on the parcel on the North side of Wegmans, however no specific retailers were named as potential builders. The IDA also reported that they are seeking a company that would possibly be interested in occupying the Alstom apparatus shop that located on Seneca street.

Griffin said the presence of fiber optic communication lines that exist there, would be beneficial to something along the lines of an IT based company.

The exciting prospect of new business’s coupled with the expansion goals of Alstom operations has the IDA looking forward to 2014 for Hornell.
