Lyle W. Henry, of Canisteo

CANISTEO: Lyle W. Henry, 79, of Eighth St. went home to be with the Lord Saturday (August 12, 2017) in the presence of his loving family at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

Lyle was born February 12, 1938 in North Hornell to Milburn and Alice (Oakes) Henry. Sixty one years ago, on August 18, 1956 in Canisteo, he married the former Marjorie Knight daughter of Ernest and Luella Knight.

Lyle had been employed and retired from Crowley Foods in Arkport where he worked as a laborer in production and anything else that was asked of him. He was a devoted life member of the Hartsville Community Baptist Church. Lyle was a man of faith, who loved the church and spending quality time with his family.

In addition to his beloved wife, Marjorie of Canisteo, Lyle is survived by three sons, William (Yvette) Henry of Canisteo, Christopher (Kathryn) Henry of Canisteo and Jeffrey (Jeanette) Henry of Howard, five daughters, Debra (John) Campbell of Canisteo, Pamela (William) Messor of Waynesville, N.C., Allison (Clem) Pierce of Canisteo, Dawn (Bill) Carpenter of Dansville and Andrea (John) Bederiah of Warrensburg. Lyle is also survived by a brother Thomas (Betty) Henry of Canisteo, 20 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lyle was predeceased by his parents Milburn and Alice Henry, a sister Elizabeth Feenaughty, brother Lawrence Henry, brothers-in-law Charles Feenaughty, Ernest, Archie and Jack Knight.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm Wednesday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo where funeral and committal services will take place immediately following calling hours at 8:00 pm with Pastor Charles Williams of the Hartsville Community Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Hartsville Center Cemetery, Hartsville, NY.
