From Allegany Co State Police:
On October 2, 2021 at 12:15 P.M., Troopers out of SP Amity were dispatched to a possible house fire/explosion on County Route 18 in the town of Alma. The residence is completely demolished/engulfed. The NYSP Bureau of Criminal Investigation and multiple fire departments are on scene.
UPDATE- The deceased body has been identified as Dan Michael Church, 71 of Alma, NY. Church lived at the residence involved in this incident. The explosion may have been caused by a natural gas leak in the crawl space of the residence.
This is an ongoing investigation.
