Margaret L. Pierce, formerly of Canisteo

Canisteo-Margaret L. Pierce, 82, formerly of Jackson St, passed away peacefully, Thursday (December 11, 2014) at the Hornell Gardens.

 

Born in Canisteo, July 17, 1932, the daughter of Gordon and Mildred Winne Keyes, she had resided in Canisteo all her life. She had been employed for 12 years at the former Westinghouse Plant in Bath, and for 30 years in the composing room at the Hornell Evening Tribune. Margaret had a great love for not only horses but all animals. She owned several riding horses through out her life and encouraged many people to become horse enthusiasts.

 

She was predeceased by her parents, and two brothers, Lewis Keyes and Harry L.”Bud” Keyes.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Ward of Laurel, Deleware, and two sisters, Delores Kelley and Carol Meyers of Canisteo, five grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

Honoring Margaret’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. Burial will be in the Hornell Rural Cemetery.
