HORNELL-Marian L. Bayly, 88, of Pearl St., passed away Sunday morning (Jan. 15, 2017) at Elderwood at Hornell, after a long illness.
Born in Hornell on Jan. 28, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Mabel (Cline) Langford. On Aug. 20, 1948 she was married at the former Park United Methodist Church in Hornell to Benjamin F. Bayly, who predeceased her on March 16, 1998, after 50 years of marriage. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her brother, Robert Langford of Rochester.
A lifelong resident of Hornell, Marian was a graduate of Hornell High School.
She was employed for many years as a telephone operator for the former Bell Telephone Co. in Hornell; after her employment she dedicated her life to being a devoted homemaker.
Marian was fond of cats and also loved music, especially opera, and was a very talented singer; she served as a soloist for the Christian Science Church in Hornell and Corning.
Most of all she will be remembered for taking great pride in her personal appearance as well as the appearance of her home on Pearl St. both inside and outside.
Her loving family includes her two children, Cyndy Drumm and Douglas Bayly, both of Hornell; her two grandchildren, Tracy Drumm and Melissa Smigel, both of Hornell; her great-grandchild, Benjamin Smigel; her sister, Roberta Cornish of Hornell; her sister-in-law, Delores Langford of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours. Friends are invited to meet her family at Rural Cemetery in Hornell where a graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday.
