Mary C. D’Agostino, of Hornell

HORNELL-Mary C. D’Agostino, 85, formerly of 14 Sawyer St., Hornell, died Wednesday afternoon (July 19, 2017) at St. James Mercy Hospital, following a lengthy illness.

Born in Hornell on August 2, 1931, she was the daughter of Ellis & Thelma (Glover) Schrader.

Mary grew up in Hornell and was a graduate of Hornell High School (class of 1950). Throughout the years she had been employed as a secretary at the former Grimes Insurance in Hornell and also at Hazel Fairbanks Insurance of Hornell. She had also worked as a sales clerk at the former Dunn’s Drug Store and Up To Date Fashions, both of Hornell.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a communicant of St. Ann’s Church.

Mary was a former member of the Ladies of Columbus; a life member of the Hornell VFW and a former member of the Hornell Moose Lodge. She was an avid reader and, in years past, enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

She was married on June 14, 1953 to Joseph J. D’Agostino who died August 3, 1992. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Schrader and her nephew, Kenneth “Skip” Schrader JR.

Surviving are her daughter, Mary “Rege” (Greg) Tsibulsky of Hornell; her son, Joseph A. (Lynn) D’Agostino of Hornell; 3 grandchildren, Nicholas (Sara) Tsibulsky, Libby Tsibulsky and Sam D’Agostino; 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews.

The family of Mary C. D’Agostino will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 AM at St. Ann’s Church. Final interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Mary’s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dep’t 300, Memphis, TN 38148. Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home.
